On the 5th and 6th of March, the FLORES project participated in the EduOffshore conference and career fair in Gdansk, Poland.
The event aimed to address the workforce demand in the Baltic Sea region’s offshore wind industry. It brought together students, educators, industry representatives, and institutions to explore career opportunities.
Videos and card game for students
During the event, the FLORES partner WindEurope organised a workshop for teachers and students where they used the recently released FLORES materials to raise awareness about Offshore Renewable Energies (ORE) jobs.
These include a series of 16 interviews with professionals working in the ORE sector, to raise awareness of the interesting jobs that this emerging sector has to offer. The FLORES project also developed a card game on 18 cool offshore job profiles, aimed at children and teenagers to discover different, interesting and potentially unusual job profiles that contribute to offshore renewable energies.
60 students and accompanying teachers joined the event, where the WindEurope colleagues promoted job opportunities on wind industry:
“We asked them what they knew about the wind industry and if they could name job occupations. There is still a great deal of unawareness about all that this industry has to offer. Using the FLORES card game and video interviews with ORE workers was a great experience to open the students minds”
