They will also forecast future trends within the industry and share an analyse paradigm shifters on new technologies, new skills, and emerging jobs.

Context

Ensuring the ongoing success of the wind sector hinges upon effectively equipping its workforce for the challenges ahead. Building a robust and sustainable wind industry necessitates future-proofing capabilities across entire value chain, encompassing both offshore and onshore operations. In instances where the industry lacks essential expertise, a domino effect ensues, leading to bottlenecks such as non-standardized training programs, expensive on-the-job training, and ultimately, unfilled job positions. The absence of essential skills can impede projects, hampering the achievement of energy targets.

Aim

This workshop provides a platform for projects and initiatives that have carefully planned future skills and trends with the goal of closing the skills gap and preparing the future workforce. Our goal is to elicit well-articulated responses to the wind sector’s skills gap, resulting in a comprehensive plan of action.

Target audience

We extend a warm invitation to corporate members, project partners as well as members of large-scale partnerships investigating future skill trends. We also invite policymakers and educators involved in the wind energy labour market and educational institutions.

Date

21 March 2024, 09.30-12.30

Location

WindEurope Annual Event, BEC – Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Bilbao, Spain

Format

Presentations and round table discussions for max. 40 participants (close-door)

Agenda

09:30 – 09:40

Welcome and Workshop Objectives, Mariana Batista, WindEurope

09:40 – 11:15

Skills gaps and analysis Jasper van Loo, coordinator of the Department of VET and Skills, CEDEFOP [10min + 10 Q&A]Provides an overview of employment and skill trends, as well as strategies and activities for skill anticipation.Chris Tyler, AON Human Capital [10 min + 10 Q&A]Skills maturity curve in the wind industry, importance of taxonomyLaure Martroye, Project Coordinator, T-shore [10 min + 10 Q&A]Presenting skills and training needs for the ORE target group, including assembly, installation, operations, maintenance, and support services and auxiliary equipment.Lefteris Sdoukopoulos, FLORES [30min + 5min Q&A]Present the skills observatory forecasts future industrial trends, including their impact on capacity demand.
