The SUBMARINER Network, one of the partners of the FLORES project, organised the Blue Mission BANOS’ 1st Mission Arena, a very relevant event in the Baltic Sea that took place on 14-16 November in Gothenburg, Sweden at the Lindholmen Conference Centre. Through interactive sessions, workshops, pitching events, demonstrations and networking, the 1st Mission Arena served as a laboratory to:
- Pave the way for innovative blue economy solutions in the Western Baltic
- Showcase local, regional and national approaches for a circular, carbon-neutral blue economy
- Provide concrete pathways for the EU’s Mission Ocean’s success
Baltic Sea Pilot Action
During this event, the FLORES project had an active presence, presenting some of its key initiavites. Colleagues from the project partners showcased FLORES to stakeholders from the Baltic and North Sea regions, marking the beginning of the ORE Skills Baltic Sea Pilot action.
In the session on “How to close gender-gap in the blue economy”, Susana Baston Meira, from the FLORES partner CETMAR, will talk about the FLORES project and how to have bigger involvement of women in maritime technologies such as ORE (Offshore Renewable Energies). Se shares her personal journey as a woman working in the marine technologies sector, inspiring all attendees with her insights on overcoming challenges
Marko Kovacevic, PO at the Submariner Network For Blue Growth, was involved in different activivies. He got the opportunity to connect with high-school students from the Göteborg area, providing insights into career opportunities within the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) sector.
He also participated in the ‘What kind of upskilling is needed for the Blue Bioeconomy – How to attract people to the Blue Economy?’ workshop. There, he pitched the FLORES project to the diverse group of session participants, contributing to the conversation on upskilling and the framework for the launch of the Pilot Action that the FLORES project will carry out in the Baltic Sea Area.
